The other day I received an email from a Practitioner. She was answering the question I ask when singing up for my newsletter:
 
"So, what's the biggest challenge you face when it comes to getting clients?"


I have so many emails from wonderful Practitioners around the world that have answered this question. While their answers vary, one question I'm often asked is how to get beyond the limiting beliefs they have about themselves as a Practitioner.
Sometimes I hear, "I know I'm stuck but I don't know why."
 
Other times I'm told, "I know I'm holding myself back from getting out there and promoting myself but I'm not sure how to get beyond my fears and doubts."

Guess what? I have a special magnifying glass that can find the limiting beliefs that keep you from reaching more clients, moving forward and getting out in a bigger way.


Do you know what the "magnifying glass" is?

It's a word.

Yes! I single word.
 
It's not even a fancy word. Nor a complicated word. And no matter what part of the
world you live in or how old you are or how long you have been seeing clients, this little powerful word detects our limiting beliefs. 
 
Do you want to know what it is? Drum roll please!

BECAUSE.

Yes, the single word "because." You see, your limiting belief usually follows the word "because." 

Whether you're thinking to yourself or sharing with a friend, our limiting beliefs and negative self-talk can often be detected if you listen out for the word "because" in your sentences.
 
Here are some examples:
 
"I can't get more clients because... I work a full time job"
 
"People won't want to work with me because... I'm just a mom."
 
"I can't start leading workshops/teleclasses because... I don't have enough experience. 
 
"I can't say I'm a specialist because... I'm not an EFT master" (or haven't been in practice for years, or had hundreds of clients, etc.)
 
See how this word helps you detect your limiting belief around yourself as a Practitioner and what you think you can be, do or have? The good news is you can
identify the limiting beliefs that hold you back from getting clients, making a great income and assisting others that need your help.
 
It's true that sometimes your inner blocks remain hidden but many times you can "sniff out" these fears and doubts that are holding you back simply by being aware of
this word because.
 
So this if the first step, to find out the limiting beliefs you are telling yourself and others.
 
The second step to remove these blocks is using a clearing process such as EFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques, or hypnotherapy to remove them. You just have to
make sure you remove it from the root, or it will come back later and hold you back.

Whether your fears around taking payment from clients, creating a website or telling people what to do, clearing these blocks is essential if you really want to move forward with confidence.
 
Your Success Assignment:
 
Write down on paper what you want to be, do or have when it comes to your Practice. 
 
Then, answer this question: "Why don't I have it?"
 
Write down whatever thoughts come to mind. Don't edit yourself! Keep the pen flowing.
 
Lastly, use a clearing process like EFT or hypnotherapy to eliminate these limiting beliefs. Yes, it will take a bit of time and dedication to do this process, but the rewards are well worth it.
 
Once these inner culprits are identified and cleared at the root you will feel more relaxed, excited and motivated to take your Practice, yourself and even your income to a new level.

Recently I've discovered a new hobby. 

Truth-be-told, it's more like a (healthy) obsession.

It's free, easy-to-do and takes no equipment. Very little training is required.

What is it?

Sampling perfumes.

I never was a huge perfume  fan. On more than one occasion I've almost been knocked out by the fumes of cologne by a woman (or man!) passing me on the street.

But recently I was introduced to a fragrance line by Jo Malone from London.  These
scents are infused with natural essences of flowers, herbs and spices.

So, when I was invited by a good friend to attend an event for Breast Cancer Awareness at the Saks Fifth Avenue Department store, knowing I could also get my 'fix' of inhaling Jo Malone's scents, I couldn't refuse!
 
It was a lot of fun and here we are indulging our olfactory glands in an array of incredible aromas. At each sample there was a small card listing the ingredients in the fragrances such as orange flower blossom, cloves and even tobacco! Some scents
were subtle and others more obvious.
 
When I left the event (smelling heavenly from all those samples!) I was reminded of the importance of "sniffing out" our own fears and doubts we might have about ourselves.

Working with Practitioners over the years I've learned some simple but highly effective tools to identify what is holding us back. And I'll be leading a very special call on

Mostly I connect with my private clients and participants online... through teleclasses and coaching calls. But occasionally I meet my clients face to face. Here I'm working with a Practitioner who is a Massage Therapist and Registered Dietitian on organizing her session packages. I love witnessing the breakthroughs clients have.
 
I also have my own breakthroughs in my Practice. Last year, I had an increase of income, greater client retention and more referrals. I attribute this growth to one major shift I implemented in my Practice: offering different session packages and programs. After hearing how successful session packages worked in other industries, I took the plunge to see if it could work in our field with Holistic modalities.

Recently I went to a small cafe with a friend. It was furnished with rustic chairs and tables. An upbeat jazz melody played in the background. The aroma of freshly baked loaves and pastries filled the room as you walked in. Ahh... my kind of place. Not too fancy just a great ambience and good food. We enjoyed catching up while eating our simple, but tasty meal.
 
When it came time for the check, the waiter handed me a bill with a small card clipped to it. What was this? I took a closer look. Attached to our bill was a recipe of one of the items on their menu. It was a simple card listing the ingredients needed, step-by-step instructions and had a photo of the end product. Printed on a humble cardboard square for me to take home and enjoy.

Dining out is one of my favorite sports, and I've been to loads of resturants. The eateries range from 'hole in the wall' spots that serve homestyle food on plastic plates (my favorite places!) to expensive resturants that serve on the finest china and white linen. 
 
But never had I received such a subtle and unexpected token at a cafe or resturant. It brought a smile to my face. It 'softened the blow' of the bill. And it made me want to come back.
 
As Practitioners we too can give an extra, unexpected touch to our new clients so that
first experience with us stands out and is a memorable and positive experience for them. These extra touches can help you stand out as a Practitioner and also demonstrate your uniqueness amongst other professionals.
 
And believe it or not it's these small extras that have clients coming back to work with you again and again. You can start offering expentional service by giving clients "extras" they aren't expecting. Just ask yourself:
 
"What can give at the end of the first session or treatment that will only take a few minutes of my time and cost very little? (No, I'm not sending out expensive gifts to clients! Remember, all the strategies I use and teach can be done at little or no cost.)

 
Here are some suggestions:
 
1. A Frequently Asked Questions list or a "What to expect after the 1st session" check list
 
2. A quick 5 minute check-in call the day after their first session, to see how your client is doing

3. A simple email sharing a few tips to continue the progress from their first session
 
4. An article written about a client with a similiar issue or condition that your client has

A couple weeks ago I met my friend Jobie in Santa Monica for the weekend. Here we are at a small cafe enjoying brunch. 

There are two reasons this friend is dear to me. The first reason is we are born on the same year, only 2 days apart.  And the second reason is she introduced me to a very special man who has had a great influence on personal and professional life.

Years ago Jobie invited me to attend a weekend seminar where a Canadian was teaching about Law of Attraction. I was mesmerized and to this day use the simple but powerful techniques he taught me in that seminar to deliberately attract what I wanted in my life.
  

You should have seen Jobie's face when I asked her, "Guess who is teaching a class to my group of Practitioners?" I told her it was Michael Losier, the teacher we had heard years ago.  She was so excited for me and for those that would be hearing this 'Law of Attraction Guy" for the first time. I have to say, I'm so excited to attend the teleclass and hear these powerful teachings again.  I know I could use a LOA refresher course!

I've used these strategies to attract a great home, a wonderful profession (I struggled for years after I closed my first practice with discovering what my 'calling' or passion
was in life), great friends and greater financial success (for most of my life I struggled with barely having enough money or having just enough.) I've also used the methods I learned to resolve a painful condition that I developed this year.
